What is a "checking" accout? Also by sort code and account number?
On the bottem of my cashpoint card it has xx-xx-xx then a 8 digit number. If that my sort code and account number?

The xx-xx-xx is sort code and the other is your account number
lol yeah, I'm still trying to work it out, too.
:eek2:
Banks aren't all evil you know?!
Depending on your card it may not have your account number on it. the xx-xx-xx is your sort code. You'd be better off looking in your cheque book for your account number. It is eight digits long though normally. Or, if you have a midland bank / HSBC switch card the pan number will read 675940xxxx and then your account number, some other banks probably work like this too.
Checking account is a somewhat american term, methinks.
