There's an Iraqi exile community in Deerborn Michigan, nicknamed Little Baghdad. A few weeks ago a news crew went in to get their opinion of the war. Instead of speaking the men started shouting and lifted up their shirts. On their backs you could see dimples where flesh had been cut out. The head of the mosque said they were pointing out where they were tortured. Others were crying and screaming about dead relatives and missing friends.

Yesterday they were waving Iraqi and American flags and marching. An Al Jezeera reporter approached them. The crowd surrounded the reporter, screaming at him for not reporting the truth about the war and Saddam. Police had to surround the reporter to save him from being harmed or killed.

It pretty one sided. The only qualms people had was how many civilians would be killed. Most of the people seemed to have been either tortured themselves or know people who were murdered, tortured or are now missing.

I'm still not pro war. But it's impossible not to feel happy about the liberation of people under such a terrible man. He ranks up there with Hitler and Stalin to me.

Well its difficult to compare but yes he was pretty bad.

You must remember that there will always be a variety of opinion in any community and also think of the bias and the interests a group may represent when thinking what their opinions mean.......

I know you don't want people to be tortured either TB.

But thinking back, I don't think the peace movement worldwide even addressed that. It was all about how the UN was already getting compliance from Saddam.
