Working a week in hand?

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I've just started a waitressing job and was told i have to work a week in hand before i get paid.

I was just wondering what this actually meant. Will i not get paid for my first week at all? That seems a bit unfair to me.

It means you wont get the money until a week later.

Basically you will always be paid "a week late"

For example if you start work on Monday and the usual pay day is Thursday, you won't get paid the first Thursday you work, but the second, when you will be paid for the first week.

So once you finish working there, you will still get paid a week after.

    Hope this helps! :)
