Lifting the veil covering the peace movement.

If you read this and see the kinds of groups that were behind the peace demonstrations in America, at least you'll see the motives behind organizers of these demonstrations clearly. And the San Francisco Gate is extremely left wing mainstream.

Too bad you are too young to appreciate that this kind of labelling of anyone who opposes the government's agenda has been conducted over and over. It was the case as well for those who opposed the Vietnam War, and guess what, the Pentagon Papers finally showed the nation that it was the Washington spin factory which had deceived and indeed betrayed the nation's trust, not the protestors.

I read that link to the Pentagon Papers. Thanks Clandestine. Interesting and brutal how some people can be.

Well the organizers can be bad guys but the people marching still sincere.

"It's beyond me how anybody can look at these protesters and call them anything other than what they are: anti-American, anti-capitalist, pro- Marxists and communists," Limbaugh said on his radio show.

I find this American fear of communists rather pathetic. Just because they are anti-capitalist doesn't mean they are anti-american.

Scotland has a socialist (Tommy Sheridan) MSP and he is more of a novelty than a serious threat to the establishment.

    That is pathetic.....

Attempting to discredit the anti-war movement by moving focus to some of the other beliefs of those involved.

This move is no substitute for a proper argument against these people who believe war is wrong, that is the issue and no-one does themselves any favours by diverting from it......

That also applies to the anti-war movement itself some of whom insist on drawing out the link with the Israeli/Palestinian conflict which is a related but not fundamental issue to the debate over the Iraqi war.....

No. That's the full truth Toadborg. Let people march for peace. And let people know who is sponsoring the buses etc.

They carried the speeches on t.v. in America. They were so left wing crazy...they didn't even make the points they could have made. These would include that Saddam is already contained. Saddam and Bin Laden hate each other. Innocent civilians will die. (Now I could counter with evidence in recent news articles that the terrorists are working together.)

But my point is...instead, the communists speakers went crazy talking about things that made no sense and didn't create any common ground between where the listener's beliefs are and where the speaker wanted to persuade the beliefs to be moved to.

I agree that it is right to have a go at anti-war protestors if they use the platform to press other issues but is not right to have a go simply because they believe in some other things if they are sticking with the anti-war issue, that simply avoids the real issues..

(Not sure wht the psycho-babble has to do with things:confused: )

Yeah, I agree with you Toadborg. And I believe most people want peace. Even the wealthy. The stock market took major hits over the war.

From a business point of view I think the main issue is not what course the govt or the UN takes but the uncertainty about what will happen, that is what is hurting the stockmarket at the moment.......
