This is a question that's probably for the ladies - can someone please remind me how long you have to abstain before you go to have a smear, or any other kind of test done?

    I didnt think you had to abstain at all before a smear. If in doubt dont have sex the night before.

    I'm pretty sure it's at least 24 hours, 'cause sperm & spremicide can affect the results, making the test inaccurate.
    Or am I talking rubbish?

    I had a smear recently and wasnt advised not to have sex.

    If anyone's interested, I couldn't find any info on not having sex before hand. But for some reason I still have a vague recollection of being told not to.

    I must admit i though you was mean't to aswell, eg don't have sex the night before.
