Dutch Experience court case & new raids!

Just a brief HI!

Colin Davies, founder of the Dutch Experience Cannabis Café in Stockport, jailed for 3 years (I believe 18 months for good behaviour, 10 already served on remand).

Not only was he charged regarding the café, but also on importing £18k worth for herb from Holland (his Dutch partner’s fingerprints were on that, he’s due in UK 9/10/02 for a possession case, got a feeling he’ll be arrested on importation IF he bothers to turn-up!) and perjury!

Colin relied on medical supply as a defence (had worked twice before), but he had already stated time & time again in the media interviews that it was a ‘full-on’ cannabis café supplying recreational uses. You can’t have your cake and eat it!

There was five in court connected to the ‘management’ – two found not guilty, one guilty of intent to supply and one guilty of allowing premises to be used – both only 18 months conditional discharge.

Colin was found guilty on six charges, inc. intent to supply, allowing premises to be used, being involved in management of premises and importation – various sentences max. 2 years all to run concurrent.

However, there was two further charges relating to his most recent arrest (a few days after pervious release), including one of perjury, to which he pleaded guilty without trial and received 1 year on each concurrent – but this 1 yr to run consecutive to the 2 yrs, making a total of 3 years.

In view of all the charges, you could say he got off lightly! He could have got several 14-year sentences in those 8 offences!

The café was raided, on a search warrant, soon after the case, about 40 coppers, the landlord happened to ‘near-by’ with locksmith – and the café’s locks were changed & it was locked-up.

Later the café was ‘regained’, but the police returned ILLEGALLY raided it again, without a warrant, and emptied the place again.

An open-air café was set-up on the near-by green, with about 10 tents, billed as ‘Green’em Common’ – whilst a 24-hour police guard was put on the café.

The police now admit the second ‘raid’ was illegal, as Colin still has a lease on the café, Colin’s brief will get his ‘X’ on Monday afternoon, collect the keys from the police and the DE should re-open Mon. night.

However, there’s a civil case on the 14th Oct., when the landlord applies for re-possession, so this could be end of the DE!
