Ant-war camp set up in grounds of Imperial War Museum

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Anti-war activists have established a camp in the gorunds of the Imperial War Museum in London. They have erected an old army tent and several of them are staying there at the moment. They have asked for anyone else who wants to join them to come along and also for supports to bring sleeping bags, tents and food.

The camp was told to move at first by the police but later was told that this was a civil matter between them and Lambeth council and so as long as they don't play loud music or cause a nuisance they can stay until the council evicts them.

The nearest tubes to get there are at Elephant and Castle and Lambeth North.

I can see Blair and Bush reading this article, and laughing.

Steel, noone gives a toss what you traitors think, and noone gives a toss about the few hundred civilians who might die if it prevents a few million dying when Saddam unleashes a plague or drops a nuke.
For once in your small, pointless existence try and think about what the bigger picture might look like. A the life of 1 person in Iraq is not worth the lives of 63 million people living in the UK, 280 million living in the USA and the other 300 million living in Western Europe, who will die if Saddam manages to complete construction of biological or nuclear weapons.

Killing a few hundred civilians now, BY ACCIDENT is nothing compared to the tens of millions we will kill in retaliation if Saddam uses a nuclear weapon.

    This is you
    >

Oh man.. do i really have to pick sides between this and steelgate?

I think on the whole i'd rather side with steelgate. All he was doing was informing us of a demonstration against the war. It may not be the most effective, but at least it gives people a chance to protest for what they want.
We can't all throw ourselves under racehorse's.

Out of interest, can i ask on what grounds your calling me a traitor?

And whowhere ... The little gif = evil ... don't you think thats a little drastic? I mean. even if you disagree with his policys, don't like his religeon and think we should go to war, i think Evil is a inaccurate and misleading, and putting it like that is just childish.

Wow, thats certainly going to make a difference.

When will you people understand that doing pointless and bizarre things like this achieves nothing but the alientation of you and your cause among the wider population.

No, we can't, but it was effective. Why make an ineffective protest like this though? Just a waste of their time. I would have more respect for them if they did something which caught peoples attention, rather than this. It would be nice to think tha they were willing to sacrifice something (hell anything) for the cause, like the suffragettes.

Pick whoever's side you like, I'm not fussed, when exactly did I call you a traitor?
As for what I wrote, if you'd rather see one person live and let 600 million+ people die, rather than the other way round then you are seriously misguided.

As for the evil gif, yes, it is entirely subjective, however I think a person who advocates the murder of his own civilians, the genocide of another race and construction of WMD's simply to pursue some sort of sick new world order is, generally evil.
I'm surprised you are still unable to draw a comparison between this funny little man with a moustache, and the funny little man with a moustache who was directly responsible for the deaths of over 60 million people.

Camping at a museum sounds fun! :p Gives you more time to look round.

I have yet to visit the IWM, although I have been to the RAF museum, Hendon, The Historic Warships, Birkenhead and the Fleet Air Arm museum, Yeovil.
    I'll get there one day.

Does anyone else find it amusing that they choose to use an Army tent to protest in?

No, of course not... They know good protection when they see it.. :p

Why don;t they go to Iraq and demonstrate?? The Kurds, Kuwaitis and others would appreciate some one talking some peace into the brain of Iraq...

Why do you accuse anti-war campaigners of supporting Saddam Hussein! It was actually Britain, America and other western countries that supported and armed the Iraqi regime during the Iran/Iraq war in the 1980s back then the western governments never made a fuss about the brutal Iraqi regime just like they don't about all their other allies which are ruled by brutal regimes like Suadi Arabia, Turkey(which has forced 3 million Kurds to flee since 1984) and Columbia a country where 3,500 trade unionists have been murdered over the past few years and which recieves billions in military aid from America!

We anti-war campaigners are against a war with iraq because it will kill maim and injure tens of thousands of Iraqi people and devastate a country already reeling from 12 years of economic sanctions and the results of the last Gulf War!

Because sodam insane does people harm..

True, but time passes and the world changes.. The UK and the US once fought the japanese and the germans..

stee1gate, I guess in your world there is no such animals as divorce, friends falling out or friends becoming enemies and enemies becoming friends..

After 12 years, one would guess they are ready for a change..

Everyone should know that the reall reason for this coming war is about oil, as Iraq has got even more oil than Suadi Arabia and therefore America and Britain are desparate to put in place a western friendly regime that they can do business with!

If it was really about weapons of mass destruction they would be having a go at Israel which definitly has nuclear weapons and all the other brutal regimes that have weapons of mass destruction as well! Also what motive does Iraq have to attack Britain and other countries with weapons of mass destruction!

Also if they cared about people who lived under brutal regimes they wouldn't support regimes like Columbia which has recieved billions of dollars in American aid and which has a human rightrecord just as bad as Iraq where 3,500 trade unionists have been murdered in recent years!

They would also have never supported and armed Iraq in the first place or support and arm Turkey a country which has forced 3 million Kurds to flee as refugees since 1984 and destroyed thousands of Kurdish villages!

This war will kill, maim and injure tens of thousands of Iraqi people and completely devastate the country of Iraq all so the western oil companies can get their hands on Iraqs oil!!!

    STFU.

We know the pros, and we know the cons of going to war. At the moment the benefits of removing a madman who hopes to nuke us is more of a priority than a few hundred civilians who MIGHT die if we don't do anything.

Wake up to the real world.

No you wake up to the real world! If we go to war with iraq then tens of thousands of people in Iraq will definitly be killed, injured and maimed and the whole country of Iraq will be completey devastated!

Iraq has no plans at all to launch a nuclear attack on Britain or any other country!

That dossier that Blair produced doesn't prove that either Iraq plans to attack other countries or that it has the capability to produce nuclear weapons.

Read about how the dossier proves nothing!

    You are a real nut.
The only way tens of thousands of Iraqis will be killed is if Saddam threatens us with nukes and we simply wipe him and his shithole of a nation of the face of the earth.
Otherwise the death toll will be around 1000 as it was in the Gulfwar.

Hmmm "stee1gate Crazy Poster," rather accurate and fitting....
    stee1gate:
Iraq has no plans at all to launch a nuclear attack on Britain or any other country!

Are you privey to Iraq's plans?? I could say as Chamberlain was privey to Hitler's plans, but I won't comment on the obvious... :D

stee1gate, you are the man... Beings you know Iraq's most secret plans, share with the world... You can save lives...
Especially because with your great knowledge, you can tell the weapons inspectors where all the weapons are hidden..

Wow, all I can say is I stand in awe of your knowledge!
