Have you seen Louis Theroux's new documentary, 'Inside the Manosphere'? Did it shock you, or have you seen these influencers popping up on your social media feeds?
Documentary maker Louis Theroux spent time with some social media influencers known for their controversial views that often involve misogynistic (hatred of women), racist, and homophobic content.
It really highlighted how much negativity is present across social media, and showed that unrealistic lifestyles are marketed to young people as being achievable if you follow an influencers' steps to success - in spite of how harmful they can be.

I've seen clips of the documentary online but i'm yet to sit and actually watch the full thing. I think these 'influencers' who promote such misogynistic perspectives on the world can be so dangerous, especially for younger audiences which they often aim to as they are more impressionable. Some of the things they come out with have been shocking, but also not surprising considering the rise in such people in recent years. I'm glad Louis Theroux and his documentary was able to show how dangerous and sometimes ludicrous some of their comments are. And hopefully it can be a wakeup call for society that this rise in misogyny shouldn't be accepted
I watched it when it came out, I knew quite a lot about the manosphere already because I spend a lot of time on social media so I didnt really learn many new things but it was still an interesting watch. i think a lot of these "alpha males" are deeply insecure for one reason or another so they look at these toxic motivational videos for validation, I think their need for validation also plays a part in the hateful bigoted things that they say on their streams, they know saying these things will get them attention and clicks and at the end of the day that's all that these men want. it's sad that many boys my age and even younger are looking up to these men, and I especially feel bad for the women who are probably being manipulated into these men's lives.
