Before I go i wanted support. After what I've bern through with inappropriate touching etc, numerous trips to drs ive been offered a medical exam if i want it...dunno if i need etc but ive been in pain since and generally not right.
Has anyone had an medical exam? How did you cope manage? Feel so embarrassed! Feels like im wasting their time as well

when i had to have one for the same well almost same reason as you. it was rly uncomfortable n i just rested n used a hot water bottle. but not sure if you have any pain relief. always check with your dr before hand.

Ohhh... im embarrassed.. im. Disgusting....so even if i want some reassurance its to embarrassing and scary. I didn't turn up to my appt on Monday (,I did let them know) like it just feels easier to just deal with the pain sometimes...
Hi @Invisible_me, I'm so sorry that you going through this. I understand this is a really difficult experience and it is totally understandable that you are finding it to be scary. I want to reassure you that you are not disgusting, you have been through so much and you deserve help and support that will make you feel heard and safe. I wanted to share a link to The Survivors Trust, they have self help resources around understanding what happened and healing. No pressure to take a look but they may be useful for you.

Its just scary to be checked and be exposed. Especially when I haven't had the best of experiences with the drs and I just feel like I'm being made to think I'm making a bigger deal than what it was. Im struggling with the emotional and physical symptoms but because i feel like no one cares and I'm a nuisence, making a bigger deal out of it I'm just dealing with it. Its like today I was crying because my tummy hurt and ive never had tummy aches like this. But they'll just say it stress!

i would also recommend rape crisis bc they have a support line which you can talk to them abt what happened to you. they won’t make you do anything you are uncomfortable with but they are there to listen to you. hru doing since posting this? we’re here for you 🫂.
Thank you @eylah , I will try and contact them. The pain is a bit better but when it hurts it really hurts but kll have moments where its okay. Before it was constant. I contacted 111 Friday and they told me to go to hospital i said no! But I guess an examination will happen if I go..
if you’re in severe pain pls call 111 again. you’re not bothering them by ringing them again but if you’re in rly bad pain then maybe seeing someone or getting medical advice is best bc you’re deserving of getting support. 🫂
Do I see the point? No. Can I be bothered no? Unfortunately the damage from.medical professionals is already done.. im.okay though.

i had a specialist police officer with me when i was taken to a specialist centre where the ppl were so kind. they asked abt what happened n then i was taken into a room where they took certain tests ( not sure if i can say sry) but if you’re ever uncomfortable during it then tell the ppl who are in the room bc they take it at ur own pace. 🤗
of course. an examination is always ur choice but. you could always take a trusted adult with you to ur appt if that’ll be of any help. 🤗
I just wanted to chip in to say ive had to have an examination as well a few years ago 💛 I had my stepmom with me at the time as I was still a minor and she came in and sat near my head holding my hand while they did the examination. The ladies who did mine were honestly so gentle and respectful and took it at my own pace. Personally for me it didnt hurt either. There was maybe a slight feeling of pressure but it was all okay

I know when the police came round to and spoke to me the officer was unsure if it needed a SARC and he ran it past his sargent and I thibk the sargent said because it didn't involve penetration and to avoid re traumatising myself it wasn't needed. Im guessing if an examination was required officers would have taken me. Its because I've been unwell and in pain since and the only way to rule things out is by examination but its been 2 months now.
