I purposely and accidentally hovered my arm over steam, I looked n it made a mark I ran it under cold water, I left it for carers to notice, i no they r shite, The one I get on with did. They took me to the main building to another person, they got a meds meds kit out. They wiped it and squirted with stuff n sent me on my way. I asked them about going to urgent care n they refused.
Wat should they hav done? I've gd now. I went to the pharmacy instead. I'm away frm where I live atm 😀

Hi @ellie2000 , thank you for making this post and for letting us know what happened with the steam. How is your arm feeling now? What was happening for you emotionally when you held your arm over the steam?
It sounds like you might have been going through a hard time, and it was important to you that your carers would notice and take care. That is so valid, Ellie, and you deserve support to keep safe. It sounds really positive that your carer did notice that your arm was hurt and that they helped you get some medical attention.
You said that you're away from where you live right now - would you feel comfortable sharing some more about this?
@Sian321 I didn't think they handled it well
@Sian321 I was thinking about how the ignore me why I only accept support from those who r gd. I sort of did it for a test. The doorbell goes and I think 'ahh ffs' so I put notes on the door saying 'asleep' they become a neusence sometimes bc they do wrong things and slip up. They always think of a comeback like 'schoolground politics' I thought tht turning it into external feeling would lessen the emotions I was feeling. They say they hav training in first aid but I'm not convinced. There's a carer that is gd who read me stories, and keeps us informed about wat is goin on. Is a careplace a business or not really. Does saying it's a business mean they're only interested the money. Which I realised coz they like to leave early Which stresses me out, especially when it was for the big therapy I was having so they didn't go anymore. The last one they went to was they came therapy and had a argument coz they had to leave early and she left coz the management told her to leave that day n she left we the therapist went out to talk but the carer had left the waiting room. They did stuff which made me talk about tht instead of wat I was there for, and being the carestaff went sour 4 a while, It doesn't now but I don't trust them anymore coz they been pointscoring, thts why I'm moving. But it's taking a long time coz they need tenants in the new place first. I kept receiving their tv license bills but to stop it my mum had to pay it, bc it was saying enforcement logo stamped. I'm at mums at the moment, so thts gd, wat does exasperating mean?
I thinking n venting wats my mind is doing so dw
Hey @ellie2000 thanks for sharing this, it's really helpful to understand more of what you are going through.
You mentioned that part of you held your arm over the steam as a 'test' to see if your carers would respond appropriately. Is that right? That sounds really hard, Ellie, and we hear how you're concerned about whether or not they are behaving correctly. Can we ask, are you having any other thoughts of hurting yourself currently?
Can we ask too how often your carers will leave early?
@Sian321 I did to see if they'd act appropriately, but they only squirted water n wiped it. They didn't take me to medical center wen I ask they just gave me wipes. And off I went
Wat should they had done?
I got a meeting on the 19th, coz I cracked one day n emailed the social, we not looking forward to it, how do I prepare? At least I can turn off the teams nd do something else
How do ppl distract themselves
@ellie2000 Thanks for sharing this with us, we're all here for you. It's unfair that they didn't act appropriately after you'd injured yourself with the steam, I'm hearing that you feel they failed the test. It's good to hear that you went to the pharmacy instead, can I ask what the professionals at the pharmacy said and what advice they gave you?
@Callum the advice was give air to it, nothing that can go in it like certain clothes (once the burn is covered sleeves can b use like jackets etc), and hav showers or clear baths bc soap can make it worse.
@ellie2000 it sounds like good advice from the pharmacy for how to manage the burn, you did a brilliant job going to them for support. Did you follow their advice I wonder? And how is the burn feeling today?
You mentioned having a meeting with the social on the 19th, that's a brilliant step to make sure you are getting the right care from the carers. How are you feeling about this meeting? And what sorts of things would you like to bring up in the meeting?
