How to stop smoking weed?!

Mbf1889Mbf1889 Posts: 2 Newbie
So I’ve smoked almost everyone day now for about 6/7 years. My mums always smoked all the time so I’ve always been around it and it was normalised to me I guess. I always played football which kept me from smoking because I didn’t wanna ruin my fitness. When I was 17 I got injured which ended my footballing career and was really depressed so just spent about a year constantly on the sesh and on harder drugs because I didn’t really care what happened.
After that I pulled myself out of all of that and slowly rebuilt my life but I just can’t seem to completely get rid of the weed.
I only use it before I sleep but if I’ve had a stressful day I smoke more, I don’t want a plant to have any control over me and am just sick of all the potential risks that come with it but I can’t sleep without it.
Has anyone here ever successfully quit weed and if so how or does anyone else struggle with this because everyone paints weed out to be not at all harmful when I feel it can be

Not weed in my case, but nicotine. Started smoking at 18, switched almost full time to a vape and I’m now 23 and can’t quit! So I can understand to an extent how you feel - the feeling that you need it to function (in your case sleep) is very real.

It may be worth your while having a chat with your GP and seeing if there’s any services they can refer you to help you to quit. Quitting cold turkey is very unlikely to work and it would be good to look into what support is out there.

I also agree that weed (and alcohol) can be seen as less harmful and for some people they are, I tried weed a couple of times and never got addicted, and I like a drink but I can happily go without that too. But both can be incredibly addictive and it’s when you become addicted that they become harmful IMO.
