Hey Community,
I wanted to share some news with you, which is that I’m going to be leaving the Community Team in January, and will be moving to another team here at The Mix/MHI. I’m super excited to get started in my new role, but as you can imagine it comes with a bunch of mixed feelings too!
Leaving Community feels incredibly strange, as in total I have volunteered and worked here for over four years. In that time I've learned a huge amount about myself, you folks, the challenges you face, and just how powerful online connection can be.
I feel extremely proud and lucky to have been a part of this space, and to have played even a small role in some of your journeys. It’s been a really precious experience seeing you consistently show up for each other, hold space, and treat each other with genuine care and consideration. You’re each on your own path, and even when your experiences differ, you still listen, support and look out for each other. That’s incredibly special.
This Community wouldn't be what it is without you folks, and I'd like to gently remind you to keep reaching out here. You deserve support, to be heard, and to feel connected.
My final day won’t be until the new year - I just wanted to share this with you now as I'm mindful I have a few days off coming up and I also wanted to share this before the Christmas rush! So, if I don’t chat to you before the new year, please take good care of yourselves. It’s been a huge pleasure being a part of this.

@Redemption ah I also remember our first chats - that feels like such a long time ago! You've grown so much as a person since you first joined us and it's been really getting to see you do that. You're completely right that whilst I won't be around in the sessions from January, I will definitely be cheering you all on the background. Thank you so much for the kind words and I'm also wishing you a great Christmas and New Year! I'll definitely be in some of the sessions in the last couple of weeks of December so you'll see me around!
I think I remember you were one of the first mods I probably met when I joined here. I always remember seeing your toothless profile picture and seeing one of my comfort character really helped me a lot. I love toothless as well and I'm sure he is looking forward to going on a new adventure. Speaking of toothless I got both him and light furry but in fidget toy format so I kinda of also got him too hehe.
Honestly wishing you all the best for your new adventures eventhough I know your not too far. Have a free 🍪 for being an amazing friend

I’m glad for you as you move on to this new role as it sounds like a wonderful opportunity though I also understand how bittersweet it must feel to leave something you’ve been such an important part of.
Thank you again for all the time, energy, and care you’ve put into this community (which also goes for everyone here). We will really miss seeing you here, and we wish you all the best with your new chapter.

Being a part of this Community has been an extremely rewarding and fulfilling chapter in my life and I'm very grateful I got to be a part of this space. I definitely wouldn't be who I am if I didn't join this Community and it's definitely given me a bunch of useful skills for my next role. Take care of yourself Echo and thank you so much once again for your kind words !
Today is my last day in Community and I just wanted to pop a final goodbye on here. I'll be moderating the Thinking Ahead To 2026 General Chat later on today (3pm-4:30pm) if you'd like to come along, but if I don't see you there, take good care of yourselves and each other!
Also Happy New Year everyone and I hope 2026 will be the best one yet for all of us !
I'm genuinely going to miss you Katie, this community won't be quite the same without you. You were the first person who ever welcomed me here and since then I've been able to make connections with other people for the first time ever, which I'm extremely grateful for. You've given everyone so much support and been so thoughtful, it really has meant the world and I'm sure it has meant a lot to others as well. I wish you all the best for 2026
One thing about this Community is you will see members come and go, whether that's staff, volunteers or other young people and that can be for a variety of reasons (maybe they fancied a change, maybe they're outside of the age remit, or maybe it doesn't feel suitable for them anymore), but I think that leaves room for new people to join who will bring their own personalities, experiences and need for connection. Seeing people leave here, and even being the one who is leaving, can be sad but more doors will open and change can be good in the long run.
I hope you have a lovely 2026 and that it treats you kindly! Take care of yourself and be gentle with yourself. You're on your own journey too.
