Christmas Fun Facts

So Christmas, is a very unique and interesting time of the year, with an insane amount of various fun facts. Here's just a few of them.
1) The Christmas Tree in Trafalgar Square isn't as big or flashy as the one in New York or other major cities, but it's not supposed to be. It's a natural tree cut down and given as a gift each year since 1947, by Norway, as a thank you for help rendered during WW2.
2) Christmas was once illegal! Between 1659 - 1681, Boston banned Christmas. And what's more, between 1647 and 1660, Parliament banned Christmas too in the UK. The selling of mince pies was an arrestable offense, and i dare not say the punishment for Christmas dinner (a fine or jailtime). However, when the monarchy was restored, so too was Christmas. This does however make parliament, historically speaking, a bunch of grinch's.
3) In Canada, they have there own postcode you can send letters to Santa to, with real people replying. It's "H0H 0H0"
4) Jingle Bells was not intended as a Christmas song! It was originally made for thanksgiving, but obviously it's gonna be used as a Christmas song cause how could it not?
5) There is a town in the US called Santa Claus in the state of Indiana, because residents kept rejecting other names. As a result, they receive an estimated half a million Christmas cards a year
I'm interested to hear any fun facts that you have.

Here's a not very fun fact, Dr. Seuss would later cheat on his wife while her health declined and would marry his mistress when his first wife died. So, yeah, Dr. Suess, the author of The Grinch and many other classic stories, is a massive dickhead in real life.
Anyway, Dr. Seuss wrote the story to try to rekindle the true spirit of Christmas. This was his easiest book to write having it written in just a few weeks but he struggled with writing the ending because he didn't want to make it sound pretentious and he still wasn't a fan of how Christmas was being overcommercialised and how it was being viewed. It's sadly ironic that The Grinch became the exact thing Dr. Seuss was so unhappy about, the overcommercialisation of Christmas which has gotten much worse since and has The Grinch being a part of this as well. For example, the McDonald's meal and I saw The Grinch everywhere while doing my internship at Asda and there is probably more, it's very sad and I only see it getting worse.
Now question, who is the best Grinch and why is it Jim Carrey?
