Work meeting- carrying on/probation in question??

Invisible_meInvisible_me Posts: 563 Incredible Poster
Hi.

So ive got a meeting with the service manager tomorrow and my manager if I want him there.
Its to see how im finding things, and whether I feel being at the workplace is the right environment for me and whether i can do the role, as its causing me a lot of stress and anxiety!
The thing is I had good shifts, but we moved base so thats caused stress and sometimes workers have said things that have then upset me!
Im so scared..
I feel like i have to prove myself. I do want to stay yes ive been anxious etc but thats my autism.

Hi @Invisible_me I hear that this is bringing you discomfort, meetings like this can be uncomfortable, you are not alone and thank you for sharing this! I'm sorry to hear that some of your collegues have said things that upset you, I'm sure that does not help the situation at all. You shouldn't ever have to feel upset at work. Do you think you will share this with your manager?

If you have already had meeting, how did it go?

Just dont.. im so upset! It feels really unfair.
So my probation she said ive failed because I haven't had to deal with safeguarding but I have no control over that, my manager has passed other people's probation even if they haven't had safeguarding, as long as they understand the process.

Then she was saying my need of timeout was something they can cater for but not now really as when its busy it impacts on other collegues. Thing is unless im proper overwhelmed in which case im out for like 2hours (which hasn't bee the case for a very 3months atleast), it hasn't has had an impact and like the average has pretty much worked out the same, if you look at me doing reduced hours.
She said some worked worry when I'm on shift in case I get overwhelmed- well thats the same if let's say someone has a fit etc...
I feel like ive been dismissed on my autism. All the progress id made has gone down the drain... why did I even bother trying!

    Hey @Invisible_me

I'm sorry to hear that the meeting and probation didn't go well today. It sounds like such a frustrating situation especially when the things that were brought up seemed out of your own control, whether it be the safeguarding or even the things relating to your autism - I don't think that that is something you should be penalised for at all since you don't have a say in the issues.

As disheartening as it feels, you should be proud of yourself for the progress you have made, whether it is recognised by the managers or not - it is an achievement in itself and i know a lot of us here are so proud of you.

Hopefully whatever happens next in this journey for you is more positive, and we are all here for you to listen and cheer you on.

    Sending hugs
