Have you experienced loneliness before?

If you answered yes, then you're not alone! Almost half of young people in the UK experience loneliness. In our latest episode of The Mix Six Podcast, we're joined by Lara Rodwell, founder of The Lonely Club, who shares with us her personal journey through loneliness.

So if you're interested in hearing where the roots of loneliness may stem from, how to manage it, and what positives can actually come from it, then check out our latest episode by clicking here.

And if you feel comfy, share down below your tips for dealing with loneliness, as well as your thoughts after listening to the episode!

ooo i love this podcast topic so i'll try and give it a listen over the weekend - i think its one that more people will relate to than we may realise. even when if we have friends and family around us, sometimes we can still have moments of feeling lonely.

as for tips, a few that i would suggest are

    1. Hobbies - finding things that you enjoy that occupy your mind can be great. it could be anything to help boost a mood. for me its reading and getting lost in different worlds through pages

    2. Outdoors - i think even going on a walk around your local neighbourhood can be good. its definitely helped me in calming my mind on days i've been overwhelmed - plus the added potential people watching as you do it can help with those feelings of loneliness

    3. Finding groups - i know for some this may be outside the comfort zone, but sometimes there can be social media groups that people can join to help meet new people (remember to do with caution people!!). finding local things happening in the area can be a great way of meeting new people and feeling less alone.

hope everyone is doing okay and we're always here to support and talk if you feel lonely :3

    I love these tips @sinead276 !

I do think a part of loneliness may be not feeling comfortable spending time alone, so finding hobbies you love can make such a huge impact, whether because they bring you joy, they distract from the loneliness, or both! Hobbies can also help you build connections with others, like finding a book club or meeting people at your local leisure centre.

100% agree with going outdoors too. Sometimes reconnecting with nature and taking a big breath helps ground me. We can feel really small in this big world so take everyday as it comes and do what makes you feel happy and fills your cup.

These are some such great ideas @sinead276 ! And totally agree there @Katie - reconnecting with nature can help you remember you 'belong', even when its hard to feel that with other people.
