leaving my job

hey🙂

sooo long story short, i hate my job lol but i got offered a new one which i really want so as i can escape my current job, no it isn’t the dream job however when ive discussed things with them such as college in september, they’ve said how they can 100% work around that n everything which my current employer will not be able to do, along with several other positives too!

im now trying to type a message to my manager as i am scared to just go in and talk about it (i hate me for being like this) but now im too scared to send the text - my employment support officer just replied to me when i said im too scared with “SEND IT🙌🏻🙌🏻” lol so ive now send her a copy of the message ive typed up to make sure it sounds ok i guess?

i typed this:
Hi ***, apologies for texting you about this though I am unsure of how to go about it. I really struggle with social situations therefore wanted to put this in a message first so as there is some background prior to a discussion about it. I am going to be leaving ***, after carefully considering what is best for me, continuing to work at *** is not an option and there are several reasons behind this decision which I am more than happy to share. I have been offered another job and I know that in our contract it states after 3 months of employment we are required to give 1 months notice however I was wondering if we could agree for me to give less than a months notice? I feel that working for ***, more so in the last number of weeks, has negatively impacted upon my mental health; I already struggled prior to beginning my employment with *** however I am finding that it is worsening as a result. I have been to my GP 3 times in the past month regarding how i feel and have been advised on all 3 occasions to take time of sick which I have been trying not to do, but if I can’t leave within the next couple of weeks, realistically that is what I am going to have to resort to as I am not going to let a job worsen my mental health. I would appreciate if we could discuss this.

i’m just too scared to hit send though!!! this manager is actually quite approachable to be honest so idk why i am so scared lol

soo i have now officially text her & they have agreed upon leaving earlier than 1 month. i wasn’t willing to do a week, 2 max however i then just got a text advising my final shift is this sunday - don’t get me wrong, i am relieved, however, i am also kinda sad as it is such a unique place to work (iykyk) but i know leaving is gonna be best for me.

super anxious now because i gotta do my exit interview on saturday - ive never done one before. my first job we didn’t have one, my second job i just ignored their calls & emails so never done it but this one i can’t escape as it’s when im on shift on saturday😫

    Hey @shannon_164

I'm glad you messaged the mamager and tgeyve agreed to a shorter notice period.

Did they agree to you discussing this with then? Is your exit interview with your manager.

Could you explain that the reasons you leaving are already stated and therefore doing this exot interview is causing more stress, to them explain it to someone else.

I've never done an exit interview but I think it's about finding out your reasons for leaving etc so they know for future in making changes. I don't actually know though
