summer reading challenge (volunteering)

hey so i havent made a post on the discussion boards in a while but i wanted to make this post because ive signed up to volunteer at the summer reading challenge in one of my local libraries. basically there are three libraries near me. to keep myself anonymous ill be naming them A, B and C. library A the one thats closest to me is a rather small library so i put that as a back-up in case library C has their volunteer places filled up. also library A is not accessible because there are no lifts connecting to the staff room. library B is a slightly bigger library however i dont think theyre accepting any new summer reading challenge volunteers there for some odd reason. i dont know, when i was looking at the summer reading challenge page for volunteers library B wasnt there. but to be fair i didnt read the libraries properly on the page so i could be wrong. and plus library B is on a high street so i dont want to walk all of that way to that library. and library C is the biggest library and an accessible one because it has a disabled bathroom and a lift. i think out of three it is definitely the best one so i put that as my main library that i want to volunteer in for the summer reading challenge. oh yeah i havent even explained what the summer reading challenge even is. so the summer reading challenge is where primary school kids read six books during the summer holidays (roughly the summer holidays) and in the end i believe they get a medal and a certificate. its nothing special though, my younger brother did the summer reading challenge a few years ago when he was in the summer between year 1 and year 2 and the medal was wooden :skull: i mean in a way it encourages the children to retain their reading skills whilst theyre not in school which is good but i wouldnt say that its special. i remember when i did the summer reading challenge all of those years ago and i actually got a wristband for completing the summer reading challenge so maybe theyve changed they way that they do things. anyways back to the point. i hope i get to volunteer as for months library C hasnt opened up their volunteering positions to just be a regular volunteer at the library. and now i get to be a volunteer for the summer reading challenge. well, hopefully. i hope that their volunteering positions for the summer reading challenge arent full for library C like they are to be a regular volunteer. ill update everyone on how this goes and ill tell everyone if i get the volunteering position to volunteer in the summer reading challenge or not.

yess definitely keep us updated! I really hope that you get in to the volunteering position for Library C, but if not i'm sure that you'll manage to work something out with one of the others, I'd imagine they'd all be quite accommodating to anyone who is willing to volunteer.

yeah i will keep you updated. i didnt put library B as a back-up for volunteering for the summer reading challenge as its a long way from the car park to walk there so therefore i just put library C as the main library and library A as the back-up one.
edit: and plus i doubt library B is even accepting volunteers for the summer reading challenge.

Wait I think I may have done this actually too as well growing up because I think my library did that challenge but it was space themed and I ended up having a space medal thing for it.
