Anxiety

I’m not sure what section this fits into. But I am really anxious over something which sounds really stupid. I’m anxious about my clothes and feeling like I can’t find things and that things go missing in the wash. And I wonder how does everyone else have all their clothes? I feel unsatisfied with my room and my stuff and I don’t want to sound ungrateful but this is all making me so anxious. It’s like I have one strapless bra but if I put it out to the wash it’ll go missing and I won’t get it back so how could I risk that? I have an older sister who is similar size to me as well so I feel like we get mixed up often. My parents do the washing and maybe I should help more. I need to tidy my room. I feel like I need to keep buying things as well because I don’t have certain jackets for example. This is really stressing me out. How do people manage this? When I was on holiday I was so anxious about underwear and not knowing what ones to wear under certain clothes and I just can’t keep up with life honestly.

    Hi user123,

Thank you for sharing this. I want to first assure you that you should never feel stupid for getting anxious about things,, sometimes anxiety has weird ways of showing up and that is completely ok.

You don't sound ungrateful at all, it can be really difficult to deal with feelings of anxiety and you are not alone.

It sounds like at the moment your anxiety is feeling quite overwhelming, do you think talking to someone could potentially help, like with your older sister? Or maybe if you feel comfortable to, you could talk to you parents with how your struggling to "keep up with life" as they may be able to offer some extra support.

If not I often find writing down what is stressing me out helps me feel less overwhelmed by all my thoughts.

    You've got this <3

Hey @user123, thank you for opening up about this. You don't sound stupid or ungrateful at all, and you're definitely not alone in this.
I can relate to the anxiety you feel about this a lot. I've found that doing my own washing helps as it helps me to feel less anxious about my clothes being mixed up with other people's. I also use Vinted as I've found duplicates of some of my favourite comfort clothes, so I know if something did happen to my clothes, then I have a backup. I also use Vinted to sell some of my clothes, as I tend to buy things and never wear them!
Do you think it could be helpful to open up to your family about how you feel? We're here to listen to you and want you to know you're not alone in this <3
