Self harm & doctors

So basically a day or so I self harmed and Janis has been looking after after them but I’m worried about the swelling, I was going to book into the doctors tomorrow but however on the triage form it always says don’t use the form for suicide attempt or self harm but does that count if it’s not in the moment self harm? If it’s one of them you have to call 999 but why if it’s not for like in the moment sh?

I don’t want to call 999 or go hospital or phone my doctors tomorrow :/ I don’t know what to do

    hey @Rose113 🙂

would you be able to go to a pharmacy? we have a thing called ‘pharmacy first’ which i know definitely exists in other parts of the uk too, they are able to treat a number of different conditions & look at things such as self harm. if it’s the same as my gp, i would imagine that they only would be advising to call 999 for suicide / self harm if you were unsafe rather than if it was something you’ve already done but just a little concerned about it and were able to wait to be seen, obviously though if you were really concerned about it, definitely do reach out for help then - otherwise you could maybe try nhs111?

    i hope you’re ok <3

@Rose113 i know pharmacy first definitely exists in england as i had to use it myself when in england before & have family etc over in england too - i found this on google which is specific for england.

i don’t at all mean for this to come across as dismissive but im unsure of how best to word it, though i promise i am not at all trying to dismiss what you have done!!! though i think its just a case of it you’re in danger from self harming then you should call 999 / go to a&e immediately rather than if you have self harmed but don’t require immediate medical attention. if you are worried about it, i would definitely say to speak to a professional who can support you!

I think that means if you’re hurt from a suicide attempt you phone 999
