Revision Body Double Study Sessions! 📚

What’s that? Deadlines are coming? Exam season has come around again?!
We know that this is a stressful time for a lot of people, whether you’re in school, college, uni, or even have general deadlines at work to stick to. We want to create a space where you folks can have 90 mins to try to get some work done at the same time as everyone else in a group chat space, with dedicated time for working and special breaks to share your learning or achievements with the rest of the group. The idea is to mimic a group study session where everyone else working can help motivate you to get some things done too and reduce procrastinating, only it is done through a chatroom!
These will be on Mondays from 5.00pm-6.30pm and Saturdays from 11.00am-12.30pm during the month of May. These would be commencing from Saturday 10th May!
These are open to everyone as long as you have a task to be getting on with, e.g. revision, homework, coursework, emails, applying for jobs etc.
If you look below, there is a plan of how the sessions would look. They are designed to help you power through your work with focused work periods and sandwiched with chat breaks. We'll be using the Pomodoro Technique, which involves alternating focused work intervals with short breaks. This session will be 90 minutes long and will include optional study music, focused work periods, quick breaks for water and stretching, a chat break to share progress and ask questions, and a final wrap-up to celebrate achievements.
Let us know if you think you'll be coming in the poll below!

anyways my exam is 12th may and deadlines within next 3 weeks as in northern ireland summer for colleges starts the1st week of june so i’ll be basically finished the year by the time first session is on - last deadline is 9th may.
This is due to people taking advantage of study leave and not actually doing any prep for exams they would just go out an socialise etc
i know for northern ireland specifically, it’s only schools really that get study leave - it’s not a thing in colleges or universities! all college courses finish 30th may here too (for schools, they will all finish the last week of june for summer) with the first week of june being used for unit retakes / tidying up eg form signing - typically the official teaching finishes late march for us and we then just have coursework to complete / exams to revise for which then take place in may and june for most, though some courses only have exams in january.
in all honesty, i don’t know of anybody who’s actually getting study leave this year lol
Yh it sounds better for me
as much as i’d love to join, i won’t be able to join on mondays due to classes & most saturdays due to work aw:(
We noticed the turnout today wasn't as high as Saturday which makes sense because it isn't a weekend. If we did a time like 4.30-6 or 5-6.30 on Mondays, would that be better for anyone to attend? We really want it to be inclusive for as many people as possible and try to ensure we have something scheduled for each day of the week where we can, even if we need to tweak our own schedules
If you could comment which one you'd prefer out of these options on a Monday, that would be amazing!
A note also that study leave is still the norm in Scottish schools, so it’s not been scrapped everywhere - but I gather the majority of schools in other parts of the UK no longer have it. Further education courses tend to finish at the end of May here too, so this is probably a good time to run sessions like this for those last assignments.
