    The Colours on the Wall

Dripping down the walls, how the colours morph
Trepid paranoia for tension to deport
    Creeping towards compliance,
    Watched in morbid silence.
    Non-existent people move in disarray
Disfigured bodies stand in the doorway
    Surrounded by uneasy compliance,
    Watched in morbid silence.

    Sweet Forgetful Dreams

Whisp away into a deep sleep,
So that you may forget me.
    Longingly sob and pitifully weep,
    In swirling darkness from beneath.

    Lie to me Sweetly

    Twisting and distorting innocence
    Sorrowful black shadows mourn.
    This grim and hollow abhorrence,
    And euphoria morphs deformed.

    Solemn purity whimpering,
    A lost white petrichor scent.
    Innocence that now whispers,
    Lace that was once perfect.

@PunchThe_Internet , these are beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing.

    They're so vivid.

'a lost white petrichor scent' - beautiful.

How does writing poetry make you feel? What's your writing process like?

    Thank you!

Poetry is a way for me to express the complexity of my thoughts or feelings. A weight is often lifted off me once I get the words down. This may sound contradictory, but I have a hard time expressing myself outwardly. So, poetry gives me both creative freedom and emotional release.

As for my writing process, I think it's difficult to describe and explain. The words flow out naturally for me, but I do think about symbolism and metaphors. For example, in this recent poem, the 'white' and 'lace' symbolise purity and innocence, whereas the 'black' symbolises impurity. I like making my poems have a clear meaning yet also be vague enough for people to apply their own interpretation of the poem. When I write, I often have a scene in my head that I am then describing in my words. Each line describes something unique and different, but all together, the poem creates a main big picture. It's all about self-expression, which matters the most.

    Urgency of Void

    An inevitable pace of destruction
Prediction of loss and hope's reduction
    Squirming bugs, black with misanthropy
Controlled for the sake of my humanity
    Disregard the corruption of morals,
Freedom is now a toxin and deplorable
    Nothing that you see exists
Suffocated and silenced with a kiss

These are very good! I love writing poetry too, though I don’t do it much and I’m not very good yet.
“Whisp away into a deep sleep / so that you may forget me” is stunning!

If you want, you should check out the book “how to grow your own poem”. It’s wonderfully structured and works through giving you writing exercises. It might interest you if you’re looking to better your art further!

Thank you. I’ve been writing poetry on and off for around four years. It definitely takes time to develop your own writing style and confidence. But I also think it’s difficult to say what is good and what isn’t. If it expresses your thoughts and emotions, then I think it is good. Art is subjective.

Anyways, thank you for the suggestion. I’ll have to look into it sometime.
