Camhs are fucking shit, I’m fuming!!

I’m absolutely fucking fuming!

My mum had a doctors appointment today so whilst I was there with her I asked the receptionist if she could help me log into the NHS app as then I can make appointments, repeat prescriptions, see my health records; etc

So the lady got it working and I decided to have a look at my health records and turns out camhs diagnosed me with borderline personality disorder in 2022 but never actually bothered to fucking tell me that they’d diagnosed me!

I’m fuming that I’ve ONLY just found out, it’s explained all my age regression and stuff but still I’d of loved to fucking know sooner instead of me thinking I was just a broken peice of crap!

    I cant believe they would not tell you about your BPD diagnosis and I wished they told you sooner as that could have been helpful information for you going forward. I have heard of CAMHS not being very good supporting people most of the time and they are often very unhelpful in these situations. Im sorry to hear that this has happened to you at the moment and I can imagine the amount of stress it has caused for you right now. I hope you are doing ok at the moment. We are always here for you right now <3.

    Im sorry to hear that happened and gosh that isn't right for your mum to be saying that at all as that diagonis clearly means a lot to you as well because you never knew about this only until now so I can imagine that it has been affecting you a lot right now which is completely understandable. This might be something to mention when you go for that appointment in January as you can flag up the diagnosis and explain that you were not told anything when you should have been told because normally when either camhs or a similar thing happens they would inform you of your diagnosis first thing and would and should offer support and guidance along the way. It really shows how bad mental health services have become at the moment for people <3.

    gosh @Rose113 - i can't imagine how you are feeling at the moment with all this. hopefully you are able to get some answers about everything at your appointment in january, as like Amy said, you have essentially not been given support since the diagnosis that you should have received, all because you were never told about it - which is unfair to you and you have every right to be frustrated by this.

    @Rose113 i totally feel you on this one - having no diagnosis prevented me from being able to get additional support through college and i was really annoyed about it and mentioned it to the gp, the social worker, the cpn and then the doctor at cmht also and not one of them thought to tell me i actually was diagnosed with multiple things already, NO ONE told me!!! the part that annoyed me more is i found out too late for college to offer support:( but i told 4 different professionals how much of a difference a diagnosis could make to me for college especially and none of them, or any other professional i’ve seen since the diagnosis told me - it’s super frustrating!!!!

    @Rose113 for sure it is!! i never experienced camhs because the gp said “oh you turn 18 too soon for it to be worthwhile referring you” and i was literally 16… then they said on my 18th birthday they’ll refer me to cmht and it took them till i had been 19 for 4 months to even bother!! the uk’s mental health system is so so shit forreal😭hope you’re ok🩷

    @shannonxg_ i dealt with camhs for a bit but they discharged me saying i was a complex case and they couldn't help me which is fucked up cos they obviously knew what I was dealing with but didn’t want to help me. I got referred to them again at 17 and they denied the referral saying nothing they can do lmao

    @Rose113 that is so so shit!!! you shouldn’t have had to deal with that:( i got super lucky with cmht earlier this year and had an amazing social worker then she left the team and the new one i got omg she was awful, she discharged me after one appointment because “we feel there is no place for us in your care anymore” is what the letter said however she told me i was an attention seeker, called me a liar for saying i feel how i feel when i do not (even tho i really do) and because im the issue not the professionals like wtf😭
