    I think sometimes it can feel this way because people can trigger old wounds and self-destructive patterns in your life even after you've felt you've worked on those wounds and patterns, but the work you've done in therapy never really goes away. It just takes a lot of time for those new things you've learned in therapy to start to feel like a more permanent process of your healing journey. You just have to work a bit harder to practice the things you've talked about outside of the therapy room. It's easy when you're in a safe contained space with a trusted mental health professional, much harder when you're around people who might be the reason you're getting therapy in the first place lol.
