As part of our 2023/24 strategy, we are looking to enhance that feeling of 'community' at The Mix. To do this, we are looking to expand our online community across our social media channels, website, support groups and discussion boards. This community will be built on these values: Fun, Useful & Connection.
Our goals 👇
We want the roll-out of our new strategy to be youth-led and to be providing young people with a high level of support, whether people engage with us across our discussion boards, support groups, or on social media. To do this, we want to take a lot of what we do well on the boards and translate this over to socials!
For example, we want to enhance our social media so that when young people come to our Instagram or TikTok, it's not just about reading our content, but also engaging in discussions and supportive conversations in the comments, and taking part in fun activations (such as quizzes or activities run on our stories).
What is the Community Strategy Youth Voice Group? 🤔
To help inform and shape this work, we’re launching a youth voice group, which I'll be leading 💛, to focus on our Community Strategy.
As part of this group, you will work with The Mix’s team to design elements of our new community strategy across our social media channels and other online community spaces such as our Support Groups and Discussion Boards to help reach young people in a way that works for them.
The kinds of things you might help us with could include: shaping new volunteering roles, shaping new activities to run across our social media and community spaces, designing content or engagement ideas for social media.
You will attend monthly Zoom meetings to shape and plan the role out of the strategy, and will be involved in testing new ideas. Whilst we encourage people to have their cameras on, you're more than welcome to have it off and talk using the mic or type in the chat.

- Must be aged 15-25 and based in the UK. Those under 18 will need parental consent.
- Someone who either uses social media (Instagram and TikTok) AND/OR is a member of our current online community.
- To be able to access the internet for monthly meetings.
- Be enthusiastic about representing the voices of young people.
- Be creative in ways we can build community.
- A minimum commitment of 1 year.
What can you expect from us? 🥰
- Experience of teamwork.
- Opportunities to work alongside our skilled staff to upskill yourself.
- After six months with us, we’ll happily provide you with a reference
- Opportunities that fit your personal interests and support with adding this to your CV.
- Optional opportunity to join sessions to shape our campaigns and content themes.

In terms of the commitment, it will be one meeting a month on Zoom with the first meeting likely to take place on a Saturday morning at the end of October. Although we'll see what availability is like across the group and going forward we can alter timings of our meetings to best suit everyone involved.
