is it common to lose consciousness from consuming xanex with alcohol? I woke up naked and alone, just finding a used condom on the floor and not knowing how I got there. Then I had some flashbacks to the night before, remembering speaking to a guy but not much memory after a certain point. I had feeling of being taken advantage of. But I don't know if I was unconscious or just lost my memory...

    @Past User I'm really sorry to hear about what happened, it sounds like a really scary experience you've been through. You've taken a brave step to reach out for support and we're here to support you through this. You mentioned this happened three years ago, how are have you been coping since this happened? 

    I'm not too sure if it's common to lose consciousness from taking Xanex with alcohol, but I'd encourage you to reach out to a medical professional to seek medical advice if you're worried about anything at all.  You may find our article about sexual consent helpful to read through, it says that someone must be in a clear state of mind to give consent and if you were drinking or under the influence of drugs, you wouldn't have been able to give consent.     Maybe somethings don't get better, but we do. We get stronger. We learn to live with our situations as messy and ugly as they are. We fix what we can and we adapt to what we can't. Maybe some of us will never fully be okay, but at least we're here. We're still trying. We're doing the best we can. That's worth celebrating too ❤

    Xanax and alcohol don't mix well together. And can cause extreme drowsyness. Xanax alone can cause extreme drowsyness and lack of self awareness, hence why if prescribed it's advised you don't drive or use machinary while on the medication, and alcohol can amplify the effects of the drug. 

    I'm very sorry you went through this. From a legal stand point there's nothing you would be able to do without much if any evidence, but there is support out there. 

    As you was under the influence your capacity to consent is inhibited there for it is classed as sexual assault.

    Also, might go without saying but you're welcome to talk aboput things as much as you like here. This is a space space and I'm really glad you found us. :)

    I would also say that, regardless of legal stuff, it's okay not to be okay with this. Nobody has a right to make you uncomfortable or make you do anything that you're not fully on board with. I know Aife and Tori already said that this classifies as sexual assault and they're definitely right, but just wanted to add that regardless of that, you're allowed to feel however you feel.

    @Mike thank you for the links. yes I have shared it with some friends and also my ex. It caused anxiety for months but I managed to get it under control. Unfortunately after this (https://community.themix.org.uk/discussion/3596429/std) happened last year, the feelings seemed to get triggered back..

    Never mix depressant drugs, especially benzos (Xanex) with alcohol. It's extremely dangerous.

    @Skive It is never a good idea to mix alcohol with any drugs! You are right, it is so dangerous!
