Hey everyone,

Sometimes casual relationships can turn into serious relationships but what do you do if you’re in a casual relationship and your partner wants a more serious relationship and you're not ready for that commitment? How can you clearly communicate expectations for a casual relationship?

Look forward to hearing your thoughts!

Maybe somethings don't get better, but we do. We get stronger. We learn to live with our situations as messy and ugly as they are. We fix what we can and we adapt to what we can't. Maybe some of us will never fully be okay, but at least we're here. We're still trying. We're doing the best we can. That's worth celebrating too ❤

    Hey Aife,

I think you've almost written the answer in your post; clearly communicate. This could mean sitting down alone with this friend as explaining that, although you really enjoy their company you aren't ready for a commitment right now. That you hope they find someone who can fill their needs but right now you don't feel ready or cannot give them what they want.

This can be a difficult situation as it can often lead to them being upset or feeling pushed away, but telling them is better than letting them continue to think that a relationship is possible. As the more they want to be with you the harder it will be for them to let go. If you are really great friends then you can get past the situation and still enjoy each others company. You could even offer to help them find someone who truly deserves them :)

    Hope this helps :)
