Too Much Anxiety

Hi,

I'm new here, and not too sure how things go.
But I have dealt with anxiety almost all my teenage/adult life, however things don't seem to be getting better.
I only initially went to the doctors for help about 2 years ago, I have been put on 3 different types of medication, but they only seem to touch the surface.
I have recently moved into a different area, so I have had to start all over again with doctors and mental health referrals ect.
However I feel my doctor is not much help, he didn't listen to me on my first appointment, I don't think i was in the room for more than 2 minutes! All he did was ask the receptionist to give me a leaflet to self refer myself, which i did.

Last night i ended up having a massive breakdown, I ended up taking more tablets on impulse, as soon i knew what i was doing and stopped - thankfully there is no physical effects (only an upset tummy), I have no idea what to do and where to go, my doctors do not listen and the team who i referred myself onto told me to go back to my doctors.

Can anyone help? I feel like i am stuck in a massive rut and I have no idea how to get out.

    Hi, Welcome to the Mix

Due to how busy Doctors are it can take time for them to prescribe you anything new, telling your doctor about your breakdown could be a good place to start. Perhap's, if you can, ask to see a different doctor or a mental health specialist. Coming here was a brave thing to do, you realised that they weren't helping and reached out, well done :)

Maybe its possible for you to get your previous doctors records and have them passed on to the new doctors, you would have to ring up the old office and ask. If both clinics are NHS they should already have your data but its worth checking just incase. If your new doctor sees your records he might take your case more seriously.

Another thing you could try is booking another appointment, be brave and don't leave until you have told the doctor everything you need to. Explain that previous treatments didn't help and you want to try something else in order to improve your mental health. This can be tricky as being at the doctors might make you nervous but, even if you end up crying a bit, its important that they understand how you are feeling.

It took me quite a few appointments to be prescribed anything and I cried though all of them, it could take a longer or shorter time for you depending on the doctor but don't be afraid to keep going back. Did they book you another appointment? If not, try to ring up and get another one set so you can prepare yourself :)

Don't be afraid to come here if you need support or are about to breakdown, we are here to help you get though this tough time :)

Just wanted to check in and see how you are getting on this week?

As you didn't respond to Eyepatch's message I just wanted to check whether you still wanted to talk to someone. You said in your original post that you've recently moved to a new area, how is that going? :)
