Hi. I'm 18 year old female. And struggle with bulimia. I spend to much money on food and hate how much it's affecting me. I dont know why i do it because I hate doing it but feel like i physically can't help it.. it doesn't stop. And it sounds like " just eat normally" but I cant and it's all i think about. Yet I'm nearly underweight so weight doesn't even put me of or hace any anything to do with it. I don't know what's wrong with me

    Hi Katlyn,

Welcome to the boards! I'm sorry to hear you're struggling, but it's brave of you to open up and talk about it here. As cliche as it might sound, realising you're not happy and wanting something to change is a really important first step. A few things come to mind that might be helpful for you. First, we have a few articles that might help you better understand why you feel like you use these behaviours even when you don't want to. The article links are: http://www.themix.org.uk/mental-health/eating-disorders/bulimia-5881.html and http://www.themix.org.uk/news-and-research/blogs/a-lovehate-relationship-with-food. As we say in the article, there are many reasons people develop eating disorders that have nothing to do with the food, so you are not alone in that.
Second, if you're looking for some more support specifically for eating disorders, B-eat (https://www.b-eat.co.uk/?gclid=CJaGotup09ICFYY4Gwodg58OMQ) is another service that has online chat groups and helplines, so they might be worth looking into. They can also help you find local services if in-person help is something you're interested in.

Hope that helps. How are you getting on today?
