Can someone help me please with my personal statement. It's for a media and journalism course and I am supposed to "show considerable interest in the media and arrange work experience"-work experience which I don't have!

Is it ok to include my web site in it or is that not acceptable? I am stressing here!

Anyone who helps me, I will love you forvever!!! :-)

Easy peasy, KrazedKT, show your interest in the topic (you are interested aren't you?) and show your experience with your site (as mentioned) and with dooyoo (where you make money solely on your journalistic skill). Mention anything you've written for other sites too - did you do a rant for TheSite.org?

Even then, the words were arrange work experience, not show. So, see if you can get some temp or volunteer work in some form of media. A local paper or newsletter for example. Or how about volunteering more work to websites?

    Hope that helped.

Thanks guys...now I love you both forever! I just really really want to get on this course and I am already late in applying.

The admissions tutor said she would consider my late application because of my good results so here's hoping!

Just one question-should I write actual web addresses or just refer to sites?

    Thank you muchly XX X X X X X X X

Yes it is. It's strange, cos I am at a uni which is supposedly "good" but feel a hell of a lot more enthusiasm for the course at the supposedly "crap" uni..

I guess I am following my heart instead of doing what is always expected of me..I only have one life and shall do as I please in it.

P.S. Good luck with applying to Birmingham Bunnykins! What subject are u doing?

    Hello again
What do you mean you don't have any work experience, you have enough...you just need to prove more than a passing interest in the course, you'll have plenty of time once accepted to get more experience. As Black Knight said arrange some work exp if you can, and mention your website, your rant for us and your dooyoo stuff.
Also, if you haven't seen it already, useful article here
You will be fine, from what I've seen you CAN write, so just sell yourself in the PS and get it checked over by your tutor/ careers advisor.
One word of warning - be extra vigilant on spelling and grammar

Just wanted to say thanks to Susie, Black Knight, Bunnikins and anyone else who helped me with my application. Oh yeah, and my cat, my next door neighbour, the milkman, and Richard and Judy.

Ive sorted out a reference and my statement, so cross your fingers for me.

    *happy to be (somewhat) sorted*
