I hate this type of threads when you first sign up to a forum; it's the logical place to start, but nothing interesting ever happens in them. You get one or two nice people saying their obligatory greetings and that's it. No compelling discussion or anything - people simply glance over small details about a poster which they don't even care about yet.
I mean, until you get a good idea of what the poster's personality is like via a few of their posts, what can you get out of knowing they're 18, from Wales and very bored at midnight so signing up to a forum and posting an overly long introduction thread.
