Ongoing undiagnosed condition- Any nurses/Drs/vaguely interested people out there?

This is going to be a long one, so I apologise.

In September of this year, I started getting lower abdominal stabbing pains- not severe enough to stop me doing anything, but worrying nonetheless and seemingly unaffected by any external factors. I went to the doctor who decided I had PID (pelvic Inflammatory Disease) despite no evidence of chlamydia or anything and gave me Ofloxacin and metronidazole. I took those for two weeks (which made me feel VERY ill) but still had the pains, so I went back to the dr- I was told it was probably just inflammation, but they'd send me for an ultrasound. Went for it (this is end of Oct 2010 now) and they found a normal follicular cyst, but nothing else to worry about. Went back middle of december for ANOTHER ultrasound, and got the all clear. Except I was still getting pains.
Up until this point, sex hadn't caused me any extra pain but beginning of January my partner and I had sex and I was in agony for about a week. My GP sent me to a gynaecologist who did yet another internal exam, listened to my symptoms and said I had textbook endometriosis, but I'd have to have a laporoscopy to confirm it and treat it. Oh, and while they were at it they'd give me the Mirena coil. At this point, the pain hadn't got worse but it seemed to be more noticable when I urinated and defecated (sorry, unpleasant I know) despite numerous urine tests.
24th March this year I had the laporoscopy and was told that I had a perfectly healthy uterus etc., but theyd given me the coil. When I asked the surgeon what it could be, her answer was basically "not a fucking clue, love". So I went home and got one with my life- except now the pains are just as bad if not worse than before and it would appear that the coil gives me the WORST PERIOD PAINS I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE in my back- but no period (as yet, I'm due on the 10th but the pains were all from the 24th of April til the 1st May).
This is all a bit convoluted, but the upshot is- can anyone give me any idea what might be wrong? I cannot be the only person on earth with this (whatever "this" is) and I cannot function with that awful pain every month. Is this normal for the coil? Will it settle? Or should I get it taken out?

Sorry this is so long- but frankly I'm at my wits end. :crying:

You may find it does settle after a while. As for undiagnosed conditions - been there, done that more than once. :(

According to Net Doctor, the coil can cause period pain.

The coil can cause more painful periods, so if things have got worse since it was put in and don't settle down then it's worth going back to talk to the gynae about it.

If you're still getting debilitating pain that they can't identify the cause of then it's still worth going back to the specialist and your GP. Even if they can't pin down the cause of the pain, if you push you should be able to get some pain management input that's better than have some painkillers and sod off.
