Excess stomach acid - can I stop this?

In Janaury, I went to see a GP because I had what I can only describe as a burning feeling in my stomach. I was told it was a virus. I then saw someone else 3 weeks later; as I wasn't feeling any better. The GP prescribed me Peptac (it's similar to Gaviscon) and the pain went within a few days.

I have the same problem again. Can I stop this happening? I have IBS too.

keep taking the peptac. And go back to the Dr. You might have GERD GORD or acid reflux.

Thanks. Peptac is something that can only been taken for a maximum of 2 weeks or so.

Had a similar problem a while back, for months I had bad heartburn most of the time.

The best thing I can suggest is to go back to your GP and let them know that you are looking for a more continuous solution. I can't remember exactly what was prescribed to me by the doctor, but I just took it every day and it stopped the problem. After a while I came off it and it had gone.

May also be worth looking at your diet and maybe try changing it a little.
