Hair, In between lengths

Okay, so for the last several years I have had short hair, About three and a half years now. before that it was nice and long, I liked it, it suited me I felt.

Anyway I decided why not, and I am growing it long again, the problem is it's got to the stage where it is too long to spike, but too short to tie back, and will be like it for some times.

I am just not sure on what I want to do with it, I need it to be quite smart, for work and not in the way.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    If you need it to be smart for work i think the only thing you can do is visit a stylist and get them to give it some sort of shape that will keep it smart, you will probably have to have it trimmed a little every now and then which is frustrating when you are trying to grow it.
