I know that Google is a search engine, which has extended to an email service and a map-planner, but since when did it extend to games? I know Facebook have done the same i.e. taking a shareware game called Bejeweled which I played in 2003! (I've not played games on Facebook though)

Monserrat, it's just a temporary thing to celebrate 30 years since the release of the original Pacman game.

I played a bit, but then had to leave work!

it cost money? oh, I thought it was just the cost of fluttering my eyelashes at big bro and the games would work by magic ;)

Yeah, if you went to an amusements arcade in the late 80s, arcade games were usually 10p a go. I don't know what has happened to our arcades because nowadays they just have fruit machines, hi-stake slots and other casino machines.

They wanted to make more money off the machines so decided to have punters who would sink in the best part of £20 a visit through gambling / etc rather than just on little games spending £2/£3.

Ooooo RS... I didn't know there were sequels. I just knew of "Mr Do" and the BBC Micro port, called "Mr Ee". (exactly same graphics, everything).

Wild Ride was running around a simplistic coaster avoiding the cars, collecting cherries and tricking the unicorns into getting hit.

Castle was a multi level game, like donkey kong, and u had to whack the unicorns with a hammer, drop blocks on their heads or trap them in a hole then whack down onto one underneath it.

The Pac-Man game Google put on its home page gobbled up almost five million hours of work time, suggests a study.

The playable version of the classic video game was put on Google's front page on 21 May to celebrate 30 years since the launch of Pac-Man in Japan.

The search giant reworked the game so the layout was arranged around letters forming its name.

The Pac-Man game proved so popular that Google has now made it permanently available on its own page.
