Do snails scream ?

There was a snail crawling up the kitchen door earlier, so i pulled it off (so to speak) and put it on the lawn. Whe i pulled it, it made this squeaky/screamy noise. So did it scream or was it say the air under it making a vacuum ?

    It would seem to me that the absence of vocal chords would negate the possibility of screaming... :)

    Did he go into his shell when you picked him up? I think I read that it can sound like they make a noise from air being pushed out when they go in their shell. Or I could be making it up, I don't know.

    Im glad they don't! the crushing sound of their little shell is bad enough when you accedently stand on them. Jeez imagine if the screamed aswell!

    I hate when you try to pick up tiny baby ones that dont have very hard shells yet. You cant pick up em cos their shells crush :(

    Snails gross me out! I doubt it screamed, it was probably just the sticky stuff squelching. :yuck:
