Relationships running their course....

I suppose I have several questions :

Why do friendships or romantic relationships end ?
Why do some of these relationships last a long time and others not so long ?
When do you end a relationship of any description ?

In terms of the first two i'm not that sure, but with the last one I have found maybe certain friends aren't as good as they could be.

In general I've ended friendships when there has been a lack of reciprocation - one minute they were my friend and the next no response to texts and e mails. I don't know why this was, but many people have done that to me. But as my friend said you only need one friend as long as they are a good one.

I feel it isn't difficult to reply to e mails and texts so maybe sometimes people aren't good friends sometimes - I think you just have to make the cut and move on to pastures new and i've made possibly better friends since losing certain people.

Someone once told me it's like natural selection ie the good ones stay - maybe this applies to all relationships eg my parents have been together for 30 years

Yeah its easy enough to respond to texts and emails, though I find that because its that easy, its that easy to forget or just put it off easily enough.

On the otherhand I have plenty of friends that I dont speak to on a regular basis, but we remain good friends, and when we meet up, its as if we have never spent time apart.

Yeah I have that too - I saw my French friend for the first time in 2 and a half years last year, but it was as if we had never been apart.

It's like that with quite a few - contact every once in a while - for me I think a catch up is a good thing now and then, but people have their lives to live, but catching up every few months is fine.
