chatting with someone from facebook and now i want to meet him

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I think I've struck up a rapport with someone from facebook and now I want to meet him. But I don't know how to bring it up.

i hope I can meet him since it would be a step closer to normality.

Always be careful though when meeting people off the net. Maybe go with a mate first? Even if things seem hunky dory when you chat on facebook :)

    Good luck though.

How well do you know this person? And how long have you known them?

This subject was brought up by an internet friend of mine a few years ago (have known him for about 5 years) and it was pretty much agreed that neither of us were too sure about it.

What StrubbleS said seems like a good idea to me.

    How'd it all happen though?

Did he just randomly add you or did you?

There's a lot of dodgy people online. I think that's why he asked.

A month can be enough to asess a person, of course the longer you remain friends the better. I've done a lot of foolish stuff in my time and my best advice is to listen to your gut instincts. If I at some point start having doubts about meeting somebody I always trust that feeling and don't meet them. I've never been burnt so far.

Use every precaution you can take. Don't get yourself into a situation you can't get away from.

make sure you meet him in a public place, and stay in a public place! local pub/bar/foody type place....

tell a friend where this place is

txt said mate when you go the toilet to "update them" that way if they aint heard from you for "x" amount of time, they could maybe ring you?

he may be a lovlay chap, but is better to be safe than sorry :)

Yeah just be careful thats all we are saying. I mean its abit different, in a good way, that you've met him on facebook other then some random chat site. As you've added him and can look through his profile and pics and all that. I mean if i added some random person i would feel alot better that i could see pics of them with their friends and nights out etc, least that way you see who are they.

Of course, you can't take everything about a person from a facebook profile but like i say its better then some total total chat room stranger.

Be careful and i hope it turns out well :)
