Smoothie recipies...

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Its just occurred to me I've had a smoothie maker for about 2 years now and have only used probs about 10 times.

The noyl thing I've ever made is bannana smoothies with ice cream and milk so theyre ultra fattening.

I would like some healthy recipies please. I've googled it but nothings really standing out...

I tend to throw in anything and everything - probably not the best way, but they taste okay! I don't bother with ice or yoghurt, just fruit and fruit juice.

    2 bananas
1 can of blackcurrants with juice
    2 mangos
    A handful of strawberries
Topped up with fruit juice of your choice

That one was something like what I usually did!

I do banana, strawberries, yoghurt and milk. Use a low fat yoghurt and skimmed milk and it will be super healthy

Banana, mango and orange juice too

I've got loads more in a book at home, I'll post some of them when I find it

    An easy one is:

    Banana
    Frozen Berries
    Bit of fruit juice

My tip is to pick hand fulls of the berries out of the bag and not tip the bag because you get a load of seeds in it otherwise!

Strawberries and nectarines go very well together, as do any of the darker end of the fruit spectrum, plums, blackberries, blueberries etc.

Bags of frozen fruits are really good for making smoothies.

    I generally go for:

Half a bannana (I don't like the slimy texture any more than that gives, but most people do)

2 Large Spoons of Low Fat Natural Yoghurt

And then a handful of frozen berries.

That works pretty well, although start with the yogurt and bannana and add whatever fruit you fancy.

    Kiwis are yummy in smoothies.

The above will give you really thick ones, if you want thinner easier to drink ones then you'll need to add some kind of liquid, milk is one option, fruit juice another, or try fizzy water for something a bit different.

For my breakfast one I do frozen fruit such as raspberries and blackberries, soya milk, natural yogurt, little bit of honey and spoonful of porridge oats :yum:

I've got the innocent smoothie recipie book and it's got some really good and unusual ideas in it :thumb:

Not exactly a smoothie - just so damned good and smooth, too.

Home made Irish cream liquour. Velvet glove but with an alc content of twice that of baily's and a kick of a Greek mule. :yum: (the drink, I mean, not the ass-kick which you will get).

    250ml Irish / Scotch whisky
1 tin condensed milk, full cream thats sweetened. (Nestle is best)
1 tablespoon chocolate syrup, or Belgian Chocolate Spread (best!)
    1 tablespoon Bourbon vanilla syrup.

Place all the ingredients into a blender and wizzz until well mixed.

Pour into a bottle, chill then serve straight or on the rocks.

    Cheers!
