Is this too girly for a guy?

Basically I was offered a deal on a new phone exactly as below - the huge selling point being the phone was free with only a minimum of 6 months commitment rather then the usual 18 months (phone was free and rental was £15 x 6 including 300 minutes or text).

The only problem was they only had 3 phones in stock and all were pink .. :blush:

    Haha! Seriously though ... if you are confident about your sexuality and can laugh off anything your mates may have to say, go for it. It looks a cool phone. But yeah, Joe Calzaghe probably wouldn't use one.

    Can you not buy a different cover?

    Hmm.. when I started doing the paper work they said they had 1 left in white so I thought OK (would have preferred black) .. but white aint too bad .. but half way in they said they rechecked and only pink in stock and they were only offering that phone on 6 month contract cos they ran out of a much cheaper phone a few days earlier ... if I was to wait for a black phone to come in next week before signing the contract it would most likely go back to being 18 months

    The whole reason I went to that store in the first places was because I was gonna buy that same phone on PAYG for £110 - which compared to the contract is only £90 including all those free minutes or text.

    The back actually looks quite nice as it's a more salmon colour but the front is the girly looking bit .. I don't think this particular model offer an easy way to change the covers whichout resorting to unscrewing things.

    If pink is your thing then fine, but I'd expect comment/funny looks in the pub. And trying to convince your mates you got it because it was the last one in the shop might take some doing.......

    its a fucking phone. half the point about them is whether they look cool.
    The other half is whether they text and phone ok.
    If you dont like the look of the phone then you aint gonna enjoy using it when others are around.

    I think it looks girly, and its a bloody hideous shade of penis pink

    lol @ Teagan & Suzi.

    Can't you buy a cover for it? I know with an old Nokia I was given (2 actually) it was possible to change the cover on it.

    I am currently testing our software on one of these phones.

    It's a reasonably decent piece of kit, but it is going to look horrific in pink. It's just about ok in white...

    Don't go there.

    I think it's ridiculous people will still make judgements one way or the other based on the colour of a phone :p.

    If it was me I would just get it, sounds like a very good deal - I want a 6 month contract :(. I hate 18 month contracts but I don't have a choice because you pay so much more for a 12 month (at least when I was looking).

    It's a phone to make calls, if you want a fashion accessory and don't like the looks don't get it, but for me a phone is functional, the only time I might get something else instead is because I geek out and like features like GPS etc. (which prove to be useless... :()

    I already have the phone on me - I had to take it to get the deal as they said there's little chance the 6 month deal would last more then a few days (and one person bought the two last remaining phones as I was there buying mine)

    BUT they're supposed to be phoning me on Tuesday or Wednesday so I can swap it with a black one - however I have noticed the back which is a metallic pink / salmon colour doesn't pick up finger prints like black normally would.

    It's one of those things you can't always decide from a photograph.

    The specs of the phone are pretty decent though - I think it's still one of the smallest Symbian S60 phones you can get

    It is.

    The 5500d is smaller, but it's only running 2.5g. Strange.

    The main reason I wanted this phone was because it's small and has symbian so you can download loads of applications for it BUT also cos it has 3.5G and thus I could use it as a modem for my laptop when on the move and get really decent internet speeds.

    I was gonna leave it in the box until Monday before I swap it out but the woman in the shop already opened the box so I had a play with it last night trying out the camera, MSN Messenger, Skype, etc All work well.

    Camera was nothing special but at least it has a light on it.

    If it's a good phone and you think you've got yourself a decent deal regarding the contract and per minute prices, who gives a s... about the color?

    I'd say functionality and agility over looks ;)
