My all time favourite would have to be David Holmes 'cos he can bring a groovy spin even to hardcore techno, and he played 2 hours over his set at my favourite club 'cos the entire crowd went wild for an encore, much respect to him.

Also respect to the big guy, Carl "King of Three Decks" Cox, Dave Angel, Green Velvet, Justin Robertson, Sven Vath, Billy Nasty and all the rest of the DJ's who played at VooDoo.

Yeah he's quality mate. One of my favourite DJ's I failed to mention is Billy Bunter.

Thing is DJ's should be appreciated more for their technical ability than for the music they play. Anyone can put a record on that people like. The credit for the music should go to the producers. A good DJ shouldn't be defined by the music he plays.

In my opinion DJ's such as Carl Cox and Hype have a wicked technical ability that Tong and Jules seem to lack.

Tiesto's ok, I think he's a bit overrated to tell you the truth...

I can't myself actually pin point a DJ who is my favourite but I like:

Oakey, FatBoy Slim, Scott Bond, Sharkey, Jules, steve lawler, tony de vit (rip), lashes and fergie...

Technical ability is important, but I disagree with what your saying about musical content, any DJ can put a record on the deck but theres more to it than that as I'm sure your aware...

You have to read your crowd constantly and not play to yourself, you have to take your crowd through levels of music with different heights and keep them interested which I do agree is also technical ability but its a combination... if your DJ has the technical skills but lacks the musical content then your crowd isn't going to care...

The best DJs are the ones which can read a crowd and respond to their needs whether that be through good technical ability or careful choice of music content.

I see what you mean. There's a lot of factors that make a good DJ in my opinion. It's not as simple as most people come to think!

Did you watch that prog the other day where they took this girl who knew nothing about dance music and Anne Savavge (I think) taught her how to mix. After a couple of weeks she was entered into a up coming DJ comp and one. It was judged by some top names.

I've quite often have blat on my mates decks. It's quality fun but that's all it is for me coz I'm not that good.

I prefer the mic. Done a bit of MCing before at Adrenalin coz I know another regular MC there and I managed to MC to a set with him. Wicked fun.

yeah im a tiesto fan. as regards trance him and ferry can not be beaten! he is also an excellent producer is our tiesto (gouryella, kamaya painters etc)

if im in a more "hard" style mood tho id have 2 say picotto and yomanda are bangin' (but fairplay they are better producers than DJs)

its not illegal til u get caught :P

Death is one of the few things that can be done as easily lying down. The difference between sex and death is that with death you can do it alone and no one is going to make fun of you
