Hibernation

Since 2000, I've had two PCs and used several different OSes (Win98, WinXP, Fedora, Mandrake, Ubuntu). All these have had the option to make the computer "hibernate", and it has always worked fine.
The problem is in getting the computer to "wake up". If it's hibernating, I could move the mouse for hours and press all keys on the keyboard, but nothing happens. I end up having to reset.
Am I doing something wrong or am I just unlucky with hardware?

Only the power button will wake my laptop up from hibernation.

I get this proble on my PC not sure why, but on my old one it worked fine!

I think it's down to hardware

I also think this cooks down to different hardware being more or less easy to "wake up" from hibernation. I've had this problem too, especially with wifi cards. They never seem to function after hibernation, so I simply turned it off.

In the BIOS there is usually an option saying 'wake up on' or something like that.

At the very least, pressing the power button should turn it on.
But you can change it to use keyboard / mouse as well.

Why don't you just turn it off and wait the extra 8 seconds for it to boot back up......?
