Hair tie questions

I want to do something different with my hair. And by doing something different, I just mean finding another way to tie it up. But not a style, pretty much just an accessory. If I don't have the energy to leave my hair down and put a couple spritzes in it, I'm not going to have the energy to do anything with it in the ponytail

So I always wear just a plain band. I've tried these bad boys http://www.angelicasaromatics.wahmall.co.uk/assets/userimages/98/2x_3cm_claw.jpg but they always break. I probably step on them, I don't know.

So, ideas?

Have you tried the metal grip things you can get that look a bit like pterodactyls? I've got one in my hair at the moment. They can be a bit tricky to get the hang of but once you do they're an easy way to create quite a nice up-do.
