if you are studying psychology now, what are you planning on doing afterwards?

if you have a psychology degree, what job do you do now? did you do postgrad training?

just researching my options ;)

I'm going to go into a finance related career I think. Don't think a psychology career is for me, unless something drastic changes in the next year.

All being well, I'll have a 2:1, and I go to a decent uni, so that should be enough to get my foot in the door for some decent graduate opportunities.

Psychology is an excellent degree to do concerning the job options it opens up for you - providing its a good degree from a good uni.
I wasn't really sure of what career path I wanted to take when I started Psychology at uni but I've found loads of companies were interested in me because Psychology gives you such a broad skillset.
For example, you can easily go into finance or research for example, or you could go down the psychology route (Eg. educational/clinical) or the social work route.
I personally chose to go into market research and I think it's great - Psychology really does open up many doors.

I went the clinical way, but I'm now trying to shift more to the social work/children's rights area.

I agree with Pink Soda though, with a psychology degree you can do loads of different things afterwards. Have many ex-classmates who are in market research or organizational psychology jobs in big companies, loading their pockets!

I have specialised in child and adolescent psychotherapy, and I've worked in clinical and educational settings. I'm about to start a Graduate course though.

I graduated with my bachelor degree this summer and I've just started an MSc in Child and Adolescent Psychology at Leiden University here in the Netherlands.

A psychology degree does have a lot of possibilities and you can work with people in a clinical setting, in a criminal setting or even in a company guiding with recruitment...as well as many other non direct psychology careers. :)

Im just going into my final year of my psychology degree and i havent a clue what area i want to go into....behavioural analysis and the clinical side of things interests me but my second year of uni was worth 40% to my dgree and i fucked about a lot and did not do that well....so now im worried a low 2:1 which if i do well this year i should get! may not be enough for me to go down the clinical path???i heard it is very hard to get into a good postgraduate course to do with clinical psychology???
