Should I complain?

I had been looking for a certain item of clothing as a present in a certain shop for a few days. Only one of the 3 shops (all the same company) had them but not in the size I needed. I explained that it was for a birthday present and the shop assistant said if i ordered it online I would get it within 48 hours.

I went home (same day - Tuesday) and ordered it online. Thursday (the birthday) came and still hadn't been delivered. I looked at my email and had received a message from them on the wednesday saying it had just been processed and would arrive within 48 hours from then.

Was I misinformed? I expected it to be delivered within 48 hours of ordering, not within 48 hours of them processing the order. I really want to email them but i don't want to look stupid.

    I think it's fair to allow that extra day for the order to be processed.

    Did you order it late on Tuesday?

    I ordered it around 1 on Tuesday. I was just going with what the woman in the shop said anyway.
