What's the legal drinking age in France? Is it 18, same as here, or younger?

    Generally 16 but I can't remember if it's split like a lot of the rest of Western Europe with 16 for beer, lager etc and 18 for spirits.

    In France I'm pretty sure they actually have several age limits on alcohol consumption - 14 for beer and wine, and then 18 for spirits. That's how it works in Germany as well.

    It works in Netherlands as well, 16 for wine and beer, 18 for spirits
