My lovely 19 inch Sony Trinitron Monitor I think is about to die

it keeps make a sound like "tink .. tink" .. sounds a bit like a lightbulb before it it blows and the screen wobble very slightly when it does that...

:(

Hope it don't blow or I'll have to get one of those horrid LCD flatscreens

Anyone know what might be wrong with it?

    Probably just dying.
You should hope it doesn't blow up or you'll have to get stitches or maybe a funeral. :p

Is it still in warranty, maybe able to get a replacement?

I don't remember an exploding monitor in either! I've not seen 3 though.

If a monitor is constantly going 'chink-chink', then it's game over, even if the dispay isn't wobbling. In my experience though, 'chinking' dispays tend to be blank/black i.e. unable to display a picture.

If you want to get a TFT, then the most important criteria will be dead pixel policy. If the manufacturers are still the same now as 1 year ago, then Philips and Viewsonic were the top two in that respect. Iiyama used to be at the top, but they dropped a level when they started to tolerate 1 dead pixel.
