I wasnt sure where I should post this - here or in anything goes... here I think

My question is (drumroll....................)

Can anyone give me tips for Amsterdam ie. places to go and stay etc on a low enough budget. Its just me and my mate heading over soon and we havent a bloody clue. We're gonna be staying for bout 5-7 days and planned to mashed out of it and totally off our nutter so we need to be clued up before we go.

    I know a very cheap but clean comfy hostel near the botanical gardens, easy to find once you know the right tram or about 5-10 mins walk from Dam square. It's called the Hortas on Plantageparklaan (the street) it's about £11 per night, with breakfast if you can be arsed to get up that early, but dead good atmos and stuff. Also check out a club called Mazzo. I'm going next month. havent been for a while but it's one of my favourite places on earth, and not just cos of the drugs.

    Like Jaygo said the Mazzo really is great.
    If you decide to live near the Botanical garden you must go there. Its amazing!

    http://www.smokersguide.com is very handy. and has some cool pictures of all different variaties and reviews on them. it also has reviews on some of the 300 or so coffee shops in and around dam. some of the better ones are less well known though.
    remember to get a map when you go...everywhere looks the same and is especially hard to navigate after a few pipes of the old faithful white widow <IMG SRC="biggrin.gif" border="0" ALT="icon">

    You have a lot of walking to do in Amsterdam and dodging trams, bikes, cars and the dealers ('charlie, charlie, coka, coka'), it gets a bit much when paranoid or when you out of it.

    I recommend the British Bulldog Coffeeshops for smoking. Is it just me or do they have really high chairs so everybody gets a laugh when you are trying to get off your chair and walk out?

    Hotel - The Lancashire (15 a night, inc Breakfast), take some j's back with you and smoke them whilst drinking Choco Milk and cans of Heinekens, it's an epic.

    The first thing I saw when the site loaded was an advert 4 the red light district and it says 'where cum is drippin...' it should also say 'and the ladies r trippin...'
