Just got back from this; no classic but it had enough to keep my interest.

Narrative and character development are almost non-existent, but if you like your horror films with PROPER violence (not the sanitised, carbon-copy, sub-Scream level American rubbish passed off as horror these days) then you could do worse. Positively vicious in places.
:p

How did it compare to 28 days later?

I really want to see it. I might go this afternoon, it's an 18 so it should be empty :D

Haha, I saw the 3.40 viewing yesterday and it was FULL!

I loved it, I thought it was much classier than 28 Days Later. The beginning is deliciously intense.

28 days later wasn't really full of character development, it was a Zombie flick set in a familiar location, can't wait to see 28 weeks!

It's not a Zombie flick. There isn't a single Zombie in it.

No, i agree. It's entirely about character development, what would happen to people psychologically if they were 'left behind' in a situation like that. It's not a zombie flick at all; that's why i like it!

I think its safe to say the original will always be the best in this series but i have to say Weeks really held up well against such a good film.
Bringing in a new director was a brave move.
Good stuff and if they do make yet another sequel and/or a prequel i hope its as good as this was so as not to ruin the series.

Of course it's a zombie flick. Zombies are just humans with a virus passed on by getting bit by a zombie, the same as in this film. They're just faster, that's all. Anyway, good film, awful firebomb special effects, but otherwise really slick.

No. Zombies are the dead arisen, to be a Zombie, you must have died first. This is an illness - Rage.

Originally, a zombie is a human whose soul has been removed through supernatural means. It's some sort of voodoo thing.

Anyway, it's still a zombie film in the same way that Star Wars is still a fantasy film despite being set in space.

Romero not Romeo - George A. Romero the writer and director of the movies that invented zombi films - Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead (I'm not counting the shit one with the big truck with rocket launchers...)

Leave George alone....Land of the Dead is a pure Romero movie at its heart. Ok, i will admit it isnt as good as Dawn, Day or Night...but never the less, his message is pretty clear and thats all George does really, the zombies are just an easy and fun way to communicate what hes saying.
