Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Help!

How do I get grease stains from out of my hoodie? I'm so fucked off I have only had it a week. I have put my hoodie in the washing machine but the stains are still on it once the washer had finished.

Any ideas please it was my favorite top :(

    "Grease" stain, eh? ;)

Dunno, hand wash it? Have a rake in your cupboards and see if there's any anti-stain thingies.

Yeah. I put some of that on when I put it in the washing machine yesterday. It hasn't worked though, there is still a big grease mark on my hoodie.

you could try using a solvent of some kind, (like white spirit or paint thinner) although it might bleach the colour out of your top.

Can you get to a supermarket tomorrow and get some stain devil stuff? I just worry it might be a bit late. Perhaps if you soak the top in water overnight, in the sink/bath?

As you've washed it, how did you dry it ? Have you put it in a dryer ?

    Shadow,
Calvin has not yet come back to and posted in this thread, which probably means he hasn't had chance to read your suggestion. I am sure he will take it on board when he sees it.

Fucked then. You need high pressure steam and a vacuum table. Find a dry cleaners that do stain removal.

I got a stain in my jumper and used washing up liquid and it came out sorry im going on everyone.

You don't need to apologise for everything, it's unneccesary.

But on a different note...blue and grey? You sure someone didn't ruin it on purpose?

Carbona do a grease one, they've done me good in the past. Not sure how effective it will be since its been dried though, teach you to do your own laundry instead of your mom ;)

No cos my way of dealing with it would to have put the hoodie at the bottom of my laundry bin so it was out of site and I would forget about it. ;)

If it's white, use H²O² (hydrogenperoxide), if not... umm...

try some "stains-b-gone" doo doo from your local market.

The sun has a pretty good bleaching ability too. put it into the sun for a while, while wet.

I read somewhere that it's better to remove blood with cold water rather than hot water, as hot water makes it stick more. or something :chin:

although the blood'll be easier to get out than the wine probably!

yeah but if you can get the stain out it is worth trying you know rather than not bothering at all dont mean to sound harsh.

Washing up liquid won't work if the hoodie has been tumble dried. If it has been tumble dried then nowt will work, really, as the heat has set the stain.

As for red wine and blood, apparently white wine is good for the red wine stain (don't really know though as I don't drink red wine :p ) otherwise you could use the salt and cold water suggestion, perhaps with a bit of bicarbonate of soda. Or the vanish mousse, rub it in and wash it.
