    it's entirely dependant on the resistance of your appliance I would presume.

    if the whole system's only got half an ohm of resistance you could draw 480A from the mains. (leave it on for an hour, and you've drawn 480AH)

    but again that depends what kinda circuit breakers and fuses you have in place too.

    I'm no electrician, I havn't a clue how houses are wired up nor how mains electricity is redistributed around a house. you may be able to draw a lot more than that if you have more than one line into your house or something. I've no idea.
